Heart disease still remains as the leading cause of death while strokes are the leading cause of disabilities in our nation

While the Coronavirus has all of us still in a state of isolation, we have to remember that there are other conditions with a higher mortality rate than COVID-19. It’s important to remember that we are still in the learning phase of COIVID-19, as we are discovering new signs and symptoms almost weekly. What isn’t new is the fact that we are NOT in the learning phase of the signs of a stroke or a heart attack.

Heart disease still remains as the leading cause of death while strokes are the leading cause of disabilities in our nation.

If you or someone you know are experiencing symptoms of a heart attack or stroke, take action now – don’t wait. Do not be afraid to call 911 or your healthcare provider. These are situations that require immediate emergency attention and with such immediate attention, in some cases the effects of these conditions can be decreased.

Healthcare professionals and facilities are maintaining safety protocols and by waiting to call because you are afraid, could be deadly. With conditions such as heart attack or stroke, time is not on your side.

Know the symptoms.

Chest pain, difficulty breathing, or discomfort in both arms, back, neck and even stomach could be signs of a heart attack. Face drooping, weakness in one arm, or difficulty speaking could be signs of a stroke. Know the signs, know the difference, and know when to call 911. Heart disease and Stroke continue to be on top of the leaderboard for nationwide deaths. Yes COVID-19 is our enemy right now, but let’s not forget about the other conditions out there, that much like coronavirus, do not discriminate.

They attack, and do so it in seconds!
